Κοινη GreekThis page was assembled to assist with the learning of Koine (common) Greek. The New Testament was written in this version of Greek which was the version of Greek from the time of Alexander the Great in 300 BC to around 300 AD. I initially studied this in a small group at Ascension Lutheran Church, and continue to study on my own. It has been wonderful to be able to read the New Testament in its original language! I put these cheat sheets together primarily to assist myself with drilling vocabulary. You may find these materials useful as well. Much of the materials that I am using in class and on my own have been produced by William Mounce. Visit his website to learn more about him and the materials he has produced to make it easy to learn Κοινη Greek. The materials I have produced below reference Mounce flash card numbers. However, I also use a Nestle-Aland Interlinear Bible and a Greek-English dictionary to comprise the contents of the pdf's below. NounsI periodically am updating a page of names in the Bible and make the document available here in pdf format. Additionally, I have a picture worksheet of Places and Regions with and without the Greek labels. NumbersI have assembled a page of numbers and made the document available in pdf format. PrepositionsI have assembled a page of prepositions and made the document available in pdf format. The prepositions are organized by cases in Greek, with the English translation appearing in the appropriate table element. VerbsI periodically am updating a page of verbs and make the document available here in pdf format. I have the singular and plural forms of the state of being, followed by the lexical form of several verbs. |
